New Office Building Open in Dayton
RRI has merged its Dayton resources and opened the new Dayton Research Center at 2640 Hibiscus Way in Beavercreek. The 32,000 square-foot facility is home to the executive, corporate, and business development functions of the Dayton area, as well as the Dayton directorates, DRO-G and DRO-H. This consolidation will strengthen RRI's Dayton operations and improve efficiency for employees and customers.
The new facility has a large area dedicated to secure operations and includes two 30+ person classrooms, meeting rooms, a secure lab, and four separate processing areas. Just outside the secure area is a student/employee gathering area with cafe-style seating, vending, and kitchen utilities.
The building utilizes several "green" building rating system elements in the construction. The lighting is designed to the latest Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) guidelines, which allows reduction of electrical consumption. The HVAC units are high efficiency and use environmentally friendly refrigerants. Interior finish materials meet or exceed the standards for greenhouse emissions. The new building has solar shades and solar reflecting glass to reduce solar heat gain in the summer while the shades can be raised to allow solar heating in the winter. These features demonstrate RRI's commitment to be a valued and responsible member of the community.
RRI plans to hold an open house ceremony in summer 2010 to formally mark the facility's opening.
